pow[d]er pussy - one day - a 6 track 3" CD released by pflichtauf of a collaboration between two of belgiums leading proponents of trance/techno influenced tribal industrial - ah cama-sotz and this morn' omina. the result of the collaboration has a very upbeat, snapping beat driven, techno electro feel. there are the sweeps of electrified melody familiar from recent this morn' omina releases, coupled with a more conscious electronica influence. the structures of the tracks are perhaps more along the lines of ah cama-sotz, steering a little away from the overtly techno forms of this morn' omina's more repetitive material. inextradoubt emphasises the more squelchy bass lines of electronica, in turn enforcing the idea that this is not obviously either artist involved. vocals, where they appear, tend towards the robotic - particularly evident in ibrinyoupeace (yeah there is no "g" in that). this is another strongly electronica piece, but like much of the belgian ebm cold/electro that the two artists stem from there is a certain retro impression to think kind of sound. the first and last pieces are short ones, just over 1 minute each, byteoffsettone bringing the EP down, with a more atmospherically toned and mellow piece. the cd comes in a heavy plastic sleeve, which folds out, with the CD stuck down. it seems like a lot of effort was made to get the packaging just so, though the fact that the CD tray on my copy had come away in no time suggests more glue might have been a good idea. personally i think on the whole i enjoy this little disc more than i do anything i have heard by this morn' omina, who to be honest are too repetitive.
